Montparnasse

Montparnasse is located on the left bank of the Seine in the 14th arrondissement between Saint-Germain-des-Prés and Place Denfert-Rochereau.
Opened in 1840 Montparnasse train station is one of the six most important train stations. Trains depart only to the west and south-west parts of France.
The Montparnasse tower is one of the famous monuments in Paris and is just a few minutes away from the train station. The building of 210m only houses offices except on the 56th level where there is a restaurant. The roof of the tower offers a breath taking view of Paris.
At the bottom of the tower, there is a shopping centre and the famous department store Les Galeries Lafayette. Rue de Rennes just a few meters away is not to be missed as there are all the main clothing chains.
This area is not very famous by visitors therefore not the most touristic one. For those of want to relax there is an interesting place: The hanging rooftop garden on the Montparnasse train station roof!
